The lacklustre implementation of the fog in the two games is a little more understandable, but only up to a point. Transparency effects on the current-generation consoles are relatively expensive to implement. According to Amazon, Book of Memories is now set to be released on May 31st instead of March 27th.

It seems that a patch is now available for the PS3 version of the HD collection. I only know from reading about it on SHC, my copy of the game hasn’t arrived yet. Apparently it is almost 300 Mb!
