In the Making Of, Ito mentioned that the dead guy in front of the TV is James. If you compare the seated dead guy with SH3 Harry, you’ll see it’s the same model, re-used.
Yeah, going through the models made it more obvious. The head is tiled the other way, but the posture is identical. Some hair has been removed to look more like Harry, too, I think.
I didn’t know the dead guy James until I saw the Making Of, though.
To me it was obvious in the beginning, in the both cases, SH2 & SH3… Same thing happened with the dead body in the SH3 mall (when Heather picks up the weapon at first time) that model is Angela from SH2 just edited. Actually it’s the Angela’s beta model for SH2 as unused it found it’s way in the SH3, I like these smart decisions. Considering that they made a game in half a year they needed copy/edit something still after all they did an amazing and unique video game and I am really happy about it.
When I saw the corpse the second time when it was bloodied, I immediately assumed it was the main character. I thought it was intenionally put there to freak the player out. Pretty clever, saving themselves work AND making a good scare that left you thinking!

It’s not really lazy but smart. Takes a long time to make a human model and so it’s better to save the time for better more important things!
