There is a hallway that you can access by hacking James’ coordinates in Brookhaven. The only time you see this hallway in the game is in the cutscene after you fight the hanging monsters, and we see the ceiling from James’ point of view as he’s being wheeled down in on a gurney.

This scene is a reference to the film Jacob’s Ladder.
On the Lost Memories DVD, there is some concept art of this hallway. The grate is the ceiling, so this image is looking upwards, like if you were seeing it while lying down. In Jacob’s Ladder, the main difference between him being wheeled down the hall and James being wheeled down the hall in SH2 is that Jacob sees all sorts of weird stuff, monsters and mental patients, through the fence/grates above him. A lot of them do the head twitch thing and don’t have eyes. This is why I think it’s possibly a planned scene rather than just a picture of monsters.

What I think is going on with this concept art is that it was just planned as a more blatant reference to Jacob’s Ladder; that they were going to put some monsters above James, probably twitching and moving around, then they changed their minds.
I’ve heard people refer to the concept art pic as “beta lying figures,” and when considering the location, I’m not so sure about that. It looks to me that the resemblance to lying figures is mainly Ito’s style, and not having eyes. The scene’s resemblance to the aforementioned hospital scene in Jacob’s Ladder is the clincher, for me. That, and they appear to be several different monsters. I think James was originally supposed to go down the hall and see a bunch of bizarre creatures above him, just like in the movie.
from the cutscene

James in the hallway. Notice the door. It’s leading into the Brookhaven garden area.

Seen with the level viewer. The second image shows the same point of view, looking up at the ceiling:

You have to use Silent Fly to get there. To do so (PC only), you get James into the garden (after the cutscene after fighting hanging monsters) and use SHfly to edits his coordinates, putting him just past the wall. Then you can walk around in the hallway.
