Harry was the protagonist in the original Silent Hill for Playstation, and later also in the Play Novel and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. While he is important to Silent Hill 3 as well, you don’t see much of him in it, and he’s not a playable character. He’s a single father and works as a writer. According to SHSM, he’s an undistinguished, working writer whose works are “big in libraries but never see hardcover.”

In SH1, we learn that Harry had a car wreck, and his young daughter Cheryl is missing. His wife died before the game occurs, and they were the adoptive parents of Cheryl. He spends the game exploring Silent Hill and learning the truth about Cheryl and Alessa.

In SH3, we learn that he’s been killed. Cheryl has changed her name to Heather and is now a teenager. She starts the game on the phone with him, then later finds him dead and wants to avenge his death, while learning about her own past and her connection with Silent Hill.

In SH: SM, we play as Harry also, but it is more the memory of Harry than Harry himself. Cheryl is traumatized because of Harry’s death, which, in this game, occurred when she was very young.
