I was hoping to upload these a lot earlier to show you what exactly the SH2 and SH3 themes for PS3 look like, for anyone not on PSN. But, it appears nur_ein_tier already beat me to it.
She was able to get screen grabs of the sample preview images as viewed in the Playstation Store. I have actually bought both themes($1.99 each) and am able to provide you with shots of how they look on-screen once actually installed on my PS3 system…
(I would like to have gotten high-res HD screens in 16:9 format, but I currently don’t have the capture equipment for it. Sorry.)
Selecting PS3 Theme:
SILENT HILL 2 Theme:
SILENT HILL 3 Theme:
Those are screen grabs of each theme’s wallpaper art as they appear on the PS3 menu screen. Both the SH2 and SH3 themes include 4 character backgrounds each – Pyramid Head, Bubblehead Nurse, James and Maria for SH2……Heather, a Nurse, Douglas and Valtiel for SH3. The XMB icons appear to be old and scratched up a bit, but are not too particularly SH-themed.
Once one of these themes is installed, you do not have setting options as to which wallpaper art appears in the background. Anytime you go into and out of a game or program and back to the XMB menu, or turn your system off and on again, it will often switch to one of the other 3 images rotating seemingly at random. As far as I know, you do not have control over the order in which they show up or able to set it to just stay on one background image.

I wasn’t too crazy about being unable to control the wallpapers. I kind of wish I’d spent my money on something else, since it’s just wallpaper. If I want Silent Hill wallpaper, I can resize an image and put it on my PS3. Also, I want Robbie wallpaper…
